To Daisies, Not To Shut So Soon

Shut not so soon; the dull-eyed nightHas not as yet begunTo make a seizure on the light,Or to seal up the sun.No marigolds yet closed are;No shadows great appear;Nor doth the early shepherds’ starShine like a spangle here.Stay but till my Julia closeHer life-begetting eye,And let the whole world then disposeItself to live or die.

Robert Herrick, 1591-1674

To Daisies, Not To Shut So Soon
Shut not so soon; the dull-eyed night
Has not as yet begun
To make a seizure on the light,
Or to seal up the sun.

No marigolds yet closed are;
No shadows great appear;
Nor doth the early shepherds’ star
Shine like a spangle here.

Stay but till my Julia close
Her life-begetting eye,
And let the whole world then dispose
Itself to live or die.
Robert Herrick, 1591-1674
HOME (AWAY FROM HOME)
by Ross Shields
In an age of international nomadism, home increases in symbolic power. Once a place of physical security and continuity, it gains new relevance as an emotional and spiritual state. Weary travellers increasingly rely upon the homes inside. And none more so than young models in their digs. In pursuit of this, photographer Ross Shields visited eight of Profile’s new faces in their temporary London bolt holes, capturing them as they seek solace in the familiar rooms and well-trodden paths within.
